Bigfoot Gun Belts makes some of the toughest leather belts you can find. They also happen to look very good while doing it, which is usually the trade off when it comes to gun belts - they look good or they hold. Our belts do both. We source our leather from Wickett and Craig (
http://wickett-craig.com/), one of the few vegetable tanneries in the United States, to bring you only the finest of carry belts.
How do we put together such incredible leather gun belts, you might wonder? Find out for yourself in this video, where we take you inside the belt making process at Bigfoot Gun Belts. You'll get a look at what happens taking a belt from mere leather and becoming the burly, beefy, steel-reinforced beast of a leather gun belt they are.
Our belts start as two strips of 14- or 18-oz English bridle leather, drum dyed to a deep matte black or a rich, earthy brown. English bridle leather was chosen for this application due to the strong-yet-supple nature of the leather after the tanning process.
The two layers are sandwiched around a reinforcing band of spring steel, as a steel reinforced gun belt will be stronger, and stay that way longer, than leather alone. This way, your belt will never lose rigidity even as the leather softens with age.
A carry belt of this type demands a classy appearance to go with the double-tough construction. To do that, Bigfoot's carry belts get a triple-edge finish. It starts with the edges being beveled, for ease of threading through belt loops. Then, the edges are burnished and hand-painted for a uniform appearance.
Choose black or stainless steel hardware, as we use a matching roller buckle and belt snaps. A roller buckle helps guide the belt tail through for easy fastening, and we use directional snaps for a secure enclosure. You could undo the snaps if desired, by rotating the bottom snap until it aligns with the disassembly notch, and then unsnap. In other words, the hardware doesn't come apart unless you mean for it to happen.
This adds up to one of the toughest gun belts known to man - a Bigfoot Gun Belt.
